Did you know that women have been badasses since the dawn of time? Even when men put themselves in every position of power possible, some women were just too fucking awesome to be ignored. Case in point, Hypatia of Alexandria. Born sometime around 360 ACE, Hypatia studied in Athens and Italy, and rose to become the head of the Platonist School at Alexandria. She was pretty much a fucking dean in a time when women were lucky to still be in school at age 10. And she knew her shit too. Like, all of it. She taught mathematics, philosophy, astronomy and music. She was so smart and talented that some assholes thought she was using magic or something. And since Hypatia hated the exclusionary bullshit that plagued higher education in her time, so she taught pretty much anyone who was interested and could keep up. Pagan? Don’t give a shit, grab a seat. Foreign? Zero fucks given, welcome to class.
